Diesel pickups
Diesel pickups such as the Ram Cummins, Ford Power Stroke and GM Duramax are in the same AMSOIL vehicle lookup used for cars. Enter the year, make, model and engine to see recommended motor oil, filters, transmission fluid, gear lube and coolant for your truck.
AMSOIL Signature Series Max-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil is AMSOIL’s premium diesel oil for pickups and heavy-duty engines, and the lookup tells you which viscosity your engine calls for. Always match the specification in your owner’s manual, especially if the truck is still under warranty.
Heavy-duty trucks and equipment
For semis, dump trucks, box trucks and other heavy-duty on-road vehicles, use the heavy-duty on-road lookup. It shows recommendations by engine and component for many common heavy-duty trucks. Tractors and other farm machines have their own farm equipment page.
Getting ready for cold weather
Lancaster County winters aren’t extreme, but cold mornings still matter for diesels. A few things worth checking before the first hard freeze:
- Oil viscosity: confirm the grade you run suits the temperatures you’ll see.
- Fuel: diesel fuel can gel in severe cold. AMSOIL makes Diesel Cold Flow and Diesel All-In-One fuel additives; read each label for what it does and how to dose it.
- Coolant: test freeze protection and top off with the correct type.
- Batteries and block heater: not oil, but they make cold starts easier on the engine.
